You can start with Aegis if you think it will be better against the enemy comp, mid/late game switch the free ward for the Gjallaflare.
If you are dying to easily/fast in fights and you need physical defense buy Breastplate.
If you are dying to easily/fast in fights and you need magical defense buy Genji's.
